Description

The General Assistant is responsible for ensuring excellent customer service, efficient stock merchandising, shelf price labeling, and maintaining housekeeping in their designated area.

Responsibilities

• Advise and assist customers with product inquiries
• Handle and resolve customer complaints
• Safely merchandise bulk stock according to store layout and planograms
• Ensure the area is fully merchandised and organized
• Maintain a clean and safe environment, ensuring no obstacles and that stock is organized immediately after being received
• Ensure proper shelf price labeling
• Adhere to safety standards, including the use of safety gear
• Ensure stock is merchandised in a way that ensures safety for both customers and colleagues
• Report any discrepancies to the Store Manager
• Report damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager
• Meet set targets, maintain accuracy, and adhere to company quality standards
• Follow through on commitments
• Identify problems and determine root causes
• Resolve issues using available information and escalate if needed
• Make decisions within company policy and set timelines, considering the consequences of actions
• Plan within the framework of departmental policies and procedures
• Maintain consistency and composure under pressure
• Demonstrate courtesy and willingness to assist customers, suppliers, and colleagues
• Manage conflict situations effectively
• Effectively communicate with stakeholders and ensure relevant information is shared

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year of work-related experience, or Grade 12 without related experience
• Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language of the area
• Valid South African ID or work permit
• Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
• Ability to work under pressure
